Paleo Foods : Figs


Figs are sweet fruits paleo-friendly, fresh can be enjoyed from the tree in the summer months and early fall. The figs are highly perishable and should be eaten within a day or two of purchase. For the best selection of figs, figs bought at the farmers market when freshly cut, then eat later that day or the next day.

The color of the skin of figs varies from dark purple to dark green-yellow color. However, the taste, texture and production are very similar for all varieties. The figures are an excellent source of fiber, potassium and antioxidants.

Since the numbers of naturally sweet (with 20 grams of sugar for 2 figs) are dried figs or fig paste may contain certain recipes are used as a sugar substitute in the kitchen or bar. Or easy to make figs roasted caramelized a great dessert, too!
